The Restaurant
The Stepping Stone was founded out of a passion for great food, fresh ingredients and friendly service. Tucked away on a side street in the centre of Wadebridge, we serve a selection of modern British cuisine using the best local Cornish produce.
There are meat, fish and vegetarian options on every menu, and the room is a relaxed and welcoming one — small enough that we know who is sitting in it.
The menu is seasonal, and a good part of it depends on what has been landed that morning. Crab, lobster, scallops, day-boat squid, Newlyn plaice and Porthilly mussels all show up when they are good.

Sundays
Every Sunday we serve a roast lunch of one, two or three courses. The menu is seasonal but always includes delicious roasted meats and fish options, served with roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and all the trimmings.
It is a very popular choice with locals and visitors alike, so advance booking is advised.
The Team
Ryan cooks and Trudi runs the room. They have worked alongside each other for years, across gastro pubs, hotels, private dining and Michelin acclaimed restaurants, and the whole point of The Stepping Stone is that they now do it in their own place.
Meet the chef
Ryan has been a chef for over 20 years, gathering a wealth of experience from gastro pubs to Michelin acclaimed restaurants. He grew up in St Merryn and went to school in Wadebridge.
After college he moved away to gain experience, but always aimed to return home to Cornwall and open his own restaurant. He has won many medals in national and international competitions, and was part of The Cornwall Culinary Team.

Trudi fronts The Stepping Stone, welcoming guests with a friendly yet professional service.
She has worked alongside Ryan across many parts of the catering industry — managing gastro pubs, hotels, private dining, functions and Michelin acclaimed restaurants. Her passion is for fantastic food and wine served in a relaxed atmosphere.
